ATTACK ATTACK Attack Attack!: Deluxe Edition - 2011 expanded reissue of Metalcore debut album
Format: CD Condition: New Year of Release: 2011 Cat. No.: 600272 Label: Rise Records
I will be reviewing Attack Attack!s reissue of their self titled album, the album is a deluxe version and features 4 new songs, 2 acoustic songs and 2 remixes.
Attack Attack! is an American metal band from Westville, Ohio. The group is currently signed to Rise Records and is one of the biggest bands signed to the label. They have sold over 170,000 units within the U.S. and have been touring non-stop the past 3 years. This album is an expanded edition of their 2010 smash self-title CD, and with the new songs, they are intended to show a more mature side of the band.
Criminal and All Alone are some of the bands slower songs and with no screaming vocals, and both are really catchy. All Alone sounds like a really pop song especially with the intro.
Though their original vocalist Austin Carlile was kicked out of the band, the new screamer vocalist is able to hit some of the notes but not as wide range of screaming now. Caleb is still able to deliver screams and his vocals fit with most of the songs on the album.
While tracks like Shut Your Mouth is more of a dance song, with a lot of auto tune and synth. There is also the track Fumbles OBrien which begins with a lot of heavy synth and auto tune. This song is similar to something you would listen to in a club and kind of doesnt really fit in with the rest of the album, but still a good song to dance to and sing along with.
While Smokahontas is a track that begins with a lot of hardcore and screams it then breaks down into a dance song that really manages to work and keep the song cohesive.
One of their last songs Lonely is a slower softer song compared to the other songs on the album and is a good song to end on right before the remixes and acoustic songs appear. After listening to the acoustic songs, they are kind of skip over tracks (my opinion of most acoustic versions of songs) while the two remixes are worth a listen to a couple times.
Overall I would give this album a 4/5, A lot of heavy breakdowns and then more breakdowns into heavy synth poppy sounding songs. This album is defiantly worth a listen to, especially having 4 new songs along with acoustic songs and remixes.
