An Extreme cult outfit based around the personality of Mr. Doctor, DEVIL DOLL were created in 1987 and in a very short space of time built up an enormous underground fanbase for their unique eclectic amalgam of Speed Metal, Classical music and Industrial Folk (!) packaged into elaborate concept albums. Bizzarely, the band's first release, 'The Mark Of The Beast' is an unattainable collector's item for only one copy, in a hand painted sleeve, was pressed!
For the second album, 'The Girl Who Was... Death', a concept album based around the 60s TV series 'The Prisoner', DEVIL DOLL actually performed live in Ljubljana where cassettes were given out free to the audience. The finalised album once more leapt into the collectors market when only 150 records survived destruction from a limited pressing of 500.
The following year DEVIL DOLL worked on a project titled 'The Black Holes Of The Mind' and a Mr. Doctor side project known as 'Mr. Doctor Sings Hans Eisler'. Neither saw release, with the latter only making the test pressing stage. 'The Black Holes Of The Mind' was retitled 'Mr. Doctor' / 'Eliogabulus' and recording was finished amidst the early stages of the break up of Yugoslavia.
During 1991 DEVIL DOLL recorded a further album, 'Sacriligium', as Ljubljana was being attacked by Serbian soldiers. Fate finally caught up with the band though when fire destroyed both the recording studio and the tapes for an album to have been titled 'The Day Of Wrath'.
