MelodicRockers ACES HIGH were originally formed by the trio of guitarist Jake Sandberg,bassist Anders Johansson and keyboard player David Brandt as EYES in 1989.Sandberg and Brandt had previously played together in a number of other bandsbefore meeting Johansson in 1987.
The trio hooked up with Danish vocalist Nicky Anderson in 1989, changing theband name to ACES HIGH later that year following the emergence of the Americangroup of the same name. A permanent drummer in the form of ex-QUADRUPLE manMatts Björklund was sourced the following year.
ACES HIGH signed to a management contract in Denmark, the group recorded an album with the company they were involved with, which was eventually bought outby the Swedish Megarock label. After the group split from said management andreleased by the Stockholm based label in 1994 to rave reviews throughout Europe.It's worth noting that the album is also known by its original title of 'Ten n'Out'
ACES HIGH put in a couple of small British club gigs in 1996 supported byPASSION STREET, playing shows at Nottingham Rock City and the Camden Underworldin London. ACES HIGH then lost their drummer and played the Danish MidfynFestival alongside IRON MAIDEN, ZZ TOP and HELLOWEEN with a stand in ThomasLejon from EMBRACED and OMINOUS.
The band pulled in ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and SILVER MOUNTAIN man Anders Johanssonto record drums on the second album. The 'Forgive And Forget' album wasoriginally slated for a February 2002 release through the British Z Recordslabel but was delayed until May of 2003 and switched to the GMR Music label.
