"Shadowsof old" was the in Aeternus' career. The musical style changed from the epic sounding dark metal into more straight forward death metal. But just as the band developed its style, the fans developed and grew with the band and just like the first two albums "Shadows of old" can be labeled as a classic album in extreme metal.
This one is re-mastered as well although the sound differences aren't that clear like on the first two albums. And also the cover and lay-out are re-done as well. The most remarkable fact is that there are four bonustracks on this one and all four were released previously on the limited "Burning the shroud" m-cd which is sold out already.
The song "Burning the shroud" was recorded specially for the m-cd and both "Midnatt storm" and "Raven and blood" were recorded during the "Shadows of old" recording sessions. "Fire and wind" was previously released on a to 500 copies limited picture 7"EP which is sold out years ago already. These bonustracks make this album a must for all Aeternus fans yet also make this album more interesting for newer fans whom haven't heard the original version of "Shadows of old" yet.
