I've never been a big Amorphis fan and have, in the past, decided against purchasing their albums. I never thought their music bad, mind you, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. But this album has completely changed my view of this band. Melodic, a great mix of brutal vocals with beautiful clean vocals, and fantastic songwriting, this album hooked me in with the opening riff and I was kept fast, throughout.
The combination of songs that are wonderfully beautiful, acoustic and often folk driven, with others that are straight up metal is one that Amorphis use masterfully, on this album. Simply stunning!
